Paper Gliders and Helicopters
Flight involves four competing forces: lift and gravity, drag and thrust. To better understand thrust we experimented with Bernoulli's Theorem. We built basic paper gliders, then modified the flaps and center of balance to see how these changes affected those forces and flight. Then we built more elaborate gliders from published plans. We also built an assortment of "helicopters" from heavy cardstock.
