Understanding how a material behaves when it is exposed to flame is important, especially if those materials are going to be incorporated into the buildings where we live and work . Of course, we could not do these tests at Olive, so they were videotaped at home and posted on YouTube. Students watched the video clips to see how quickly materials caught on fire, and noted if they burned cleanly, or produced lots of dark smoke and soot. They also examined those burned samples to see if they melted, turned to ash, or remained undamaged.
